Our proposals for the study of Italian language and culture

Since 1978 the Italian language school Centro Machiavelli has been a meeting place for those drawn to Italian, who want to use this language creatively and who are interested in the culture of this country, in the broadest sense.

Our characteristic is the care and attention with which we treat each and every participant of our Italian language courses, to their needs and to satisfying their expectations.

The atmosphere, is cheerful and informal as required when communication is aimed at a specific purpose, as it is here.

Our programmes

• Italian language: courses for every level and duration.
• History of Art: courses for interpreting the iconography of works of art.
• Music and singing: courses for lovers of opera and singers.
• Firenze nell'Arte: practical courses in the workshops of artists and artisans.
• Italian cooking: courses, apprenticeships and workshops, at school and in companies operating in the food and beverage industry.
• Cultural and recreational activities: seminars, guided visits, workshops, excursions , field trips.

The maximum number of participants of 12 per group, allows for rapid learning of Italian language, based on individual participation. As well as a clear illustration of the rules of the grammar, we allow ample space for communication activities and for games.

Our students come from all over the world and this enhances the chances of communicating in Italian only and it makes mental flexibility and creativity a must for the teachers, in organising the lessons, in the use of the teaching material and in the activities undertaken.

These are just some of the reason why millions of people every year visit the city of the Renaissance.

You can also chose not just to limit yourself to scratching the surface, by leaving the beaten path of touristic consumerism and giving yourself time to take in all the rest: the social, economic and cultural liveliness of the neighbourhoods, with their markets, workshops, stores, restaurants and meeting points. Florence and Tuscany have an important tradition of hosting youths and all those who are drawn to Italian language and culture with a path that winds its way through programmes of history of art, of arts and crafts, of cooking of fashion and of design.

All of Tuscany, which is the cradle of the Italian language and of European culture, was and continues to be, the point of convergence and the workshop of art and culture; without ever losing sight of its past (Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Machiavelli, Giotto, Leon Battista Alberti, Brunelleschi) it keeps a steady eye on its future.
